— A throwback to my lovely trip to Mykonos ♥ Greece + Travel Photography and Travel Tips —

It had a high ranking on my Travel wishlist and now I finally experienced the island where jetsetters from around the world drop anchor and sip luxury cocktails in famous beach clubs: Mykonos! This beautiful island offers clear blue water, amazing beaches, great food, famous beach clubs, stunning views over the Aegean sea and a picturesque old town that is overwhelming photogenic.

I stayed on the island with my husband for a week and visited two gorgeous hotels. The first days we spent at luxury Boutique Hotel San Giorgio. A hotel with an authentic and laid back vibe, nice and simple design, natural materials, hammocks swaying in the wind and great cocktails at the poolbar ♥. Here you can just be yourself and relax. The hotel is situated between Paranga Beach and Paradise Beach which is famous for its parties. Which also brings up a little minus: the Paradise Club is located nearby so don’t expect to hear nothing else but crickets at night ;). During daytime you can experience total relaxation at the poolside, where life goes in slow motion on easy lounge beats.

The second half of our vacation we spent in Myconian Utopia Hotel, a beautiful world-class hotel with stunning interior design. This hotel carries out a more luxury concept but is also more formal than San Giorgio. The view here is amazing! I can imagine it must be like an elevated view from Santorini (one of the neighbour islands) because the hotel is situated at the highest point above Elia Beach. During daytime you enjoy the view from the stunning infinity pool, enjoy a massage at the spa or head down to Elia Beach. At night you wine and dine like a star. The personnel makes sure you have everything you desire, they swipe every lost breadcrumb off your dining table in a split second and are constantly asking if everything is allright. Which also brings up a little minus, because at some point the kindness started to feel like a bit too much.

What made this vacation so perfect was the combination of the laid-back San Giorgio and the luxurious Myconian Utopia. All I did was sway in a hammock at the poolside, enjoying the great food (fresh fish!) on the whole island, wander through the cute little streets of Mykonos town, shop in the nice boutiques and gaze at the Aegean sea with a cocktail in my hand.

Some of my other Mykonos travel tips are: Restaurant Nautilus in Mykonos Town, Greek Taverna Tasos at Paranga Beach, swimming at Elia Beach, Psarou Beach to spot luxury yachts and celebrity jetsetters, the cocktails at San Giorgio and Myconian Utopia, and last but not least: Mykonos Town with its maze of little streets.

Dear Mykonos, what an amazing island you are. I’ll be looking at the beautiful pictures that I took of you, until we meet again :).
